Who is Emily Grierson?

Emily Grierson is the main character in a short story called " A Rose For Emily" by William Faulkner. She is described as a fallen monument and lived to be the last of her generation. Emily lived in a time period where she didn't have to work and was of a higher class. She was fairly wealthy and didn't have to pay taxes. As society started to change Emily remained to live the lifestyle she was accustomed to. As the years passed by, she slowly became antisocial. She barely left her house and never had any company. The good days that she once enjoyed had been replaced with abandoned houses and gasoline stations. Emily Grierson remained the same Emily Grierson.
