Albert Chinualumogo Achebe is a Nigerian novelist whom we know as the author of our current book, Things Fall Apart. This book is the most widely read book in modern African literature.
Achebe was born in November of 1930, so he is 80 years old and not dead yet.
Achebe was born and raised in the town of Ogidi in south Nigeria. He did very well at school and earned himself a scholarship for undergraduate studies. He became interested in world religions and African cultures and began his writing while he was at the university. He wrote Things Fall Apart in 1958 and it is his bestselling novel.
Achebe currently works as a professor at the David and Marianna University and a professor of African studies at Brown University.
